- We talk you through the immediate steps — where to put a bucket, what to move, and how to stop water tracking along a ceiling joist
- We get out to you and find where the water is actually entering, which is rarely directly above the stain
- We tarp it properly if the weather won’t allow a permanent fix that night
- We photograph everything so you have documentation while the damage is fresh
- We come back and fix it right once conditions allow
Common roof problems
Most of what we repair falls into one of these. All of them get worse and more expensive the longer they’re left.
Active leaks
We trace the entry point rather than guessing from the stain. Water can travel a long way along a rafter before it drops.
Storm & wind damage
Lifted, creased or missing shingles after a blow. We check the whole roof, because wind damage is rarely limited to the bit you can see from the ground.
Failed flashing
Chimneys, walls, valleys and skylights. Flashing is where most roofs actually leak, and reused flashing on a new roof is a common culprit.
Cracked pipe boots
The rubber collar around a plumbing vent perishes in the sun long before the shingles do. It’s a small part that causes a lot of ceiling damage.
Rotten decking & fascia
Soft spots underfoot, sagging lines, or fascia board that has gone spongy behind the gutter. We replace the wood, not just the covering.
Ventilation problems
An attic that can’t breathe cooks the shingles from underneath and shortens the life of the whole roof. Often the real cause of premature failure.

Repair or replace?
When a repair is the right call
The roof is generally sound and relatively young, the damage is limited to one area, and the decking underneath is solid. A localised repair on a healthy roof is money well spent and can buy you years.
When you’re throwing money at it
If you’ve repaired the same roof three times, if the shingles are brittle across every slope, or if the decking is soft in several places, each repair is only moving the leak somewhere else. At that point replacement is the cheaper option over any sensible timeframe.
Can you match my existing shingles?
Often, roughly. Be aware that a decade of sun means even the identical product won’t be an exact color match — a repair patch will usually be visible if you go looking. On a rear slope that rarely matters. On the front elevation, it might.
