We install solar.
We don’t sell it.

This matters, so we’ve put it at the top of the page rather than in the small print.

Palmetto Roofing and Solar is not a solar panel dealer. We don’t sell panels, inverters or systems, we don’t sign you up to a finance agreement, and we don’t have anyone on commission trying to talk you into a bigger array than you need.

What we do is the installation. If you’ve bought panels, if you’re buying them from a solar company, or if your supplier needs a qualified local crew to physically put them on the roof — that’s our part of the job.

So who is this for?

Why It Matters

Every solar panel
is a hole in your roof

Mounting an array means putting dozens of penetrations through a surface whose entire job is keeping water out. Get that wrong and you’ve traded an electricity bill for a leak.

Flashed, not just sealed

Every mount gets properly flashed into the roof covering. Sealant alone is a temporary fix that fails in the Carolina sun, and it’s the most common thing we find when a solar array starts leaking.

Fixed to the structure

Mounts land on rafters, not in the gaps between them. We locate the framing properly instead of hoping the decking will hold the load through the next storm.

We check the roof first

If your roof only has a few years left, we’ll tell you before the panels go on — because taking an array off and putting it back later costs far more than doing the roof first.

Best Case

The ideal time
is during a re-roof

If your roof is due anyway, putting the panels on at the same time is far and away the cheapest route.

How It Works

From your panels to your roof

01

Tell us the system

What panels and mounting hardware you have or are buying, and roughly where you want the array.

02

We assess the roof

Condition, structure, slope and orientation — plus an honest word if the roof should be replaced first.

03

Free estimate

A price for the installation work, clearly separated from whatever you’re paying your panel supplier.

04

We mount it

Mounts located on structure, flashed into the roof, panels set, and the site left clean.

Common Questions

Solar installation FAQ

No — and we want to be completely clear about that. We are roofers who install solar. You buy your panels and system from a solar supplier, and we handle putting them on your roof correctly. If you’d like, we’re happy to talk through what makes a system easier or harder to mount before you buy.

It can, if it’s done badly by someone who isn’t a roofer. That’s precisely the problem we exist to solve. If we installed your roof, we know exactly how it’s built and how to penetrate it correctly.

Usually not. Solar arrays are designed to sit there for decades, and a roof with a few years left will need replacing while the panels are in the way. Removing and refitting an array is a significant cost. We’ll inspect the roof free and give you a straight answer.

Yes, and standing seam is one of the best surfaces for it. Panels can often be clamped directly to the seams with no roof penetrations at all — which removes the leak risk almost entirely. More on metal roofing.

Yes. Low-slope and flat commercial roofs have their own mounting considerations, and we can look at those alongside the condition of the roof itself. See commercial roofing.

Our part of the job is the roof-side work: structural mounting, flashing and setting the panels. Talk to us about your specific project and we’ll be straight with you about exactly which parts of it we handle and which you’ll need your solar provider or an electrician for.
